| I strive to produce healthy, sound, loving companions with ability to
excel in any performance event. I enjoy the anticipation and suspense of waiting to see what combination
of colors and personalities is produced in each litter, and I enjoy raising,
watching, and playing with pups. It is very fulfilling when I place
each pup in a home where I know it will be loved, enjoyed, and appreciated.
I breed with the interest of my dogs at heart. I average
1-2 litters each year and place each pup with a long-term
health guarantee. My breeding dogs are OFA and CERF
evaluated, and I only plan matings between dogs & bitches
that are at least 2 years old with OFA hip ratings of Good
or Excellent and normal CERF (eye) evaluations.
I do not breed females on consecutive heat cycles. Additionally,
I place all my pups with a 5-year guarantee for hip dysplasia
and genetic eye defects.
Pups are handled sparingly during their first 2 weeks, but once
their eyes open I spend time playing with them every day. At
about 3.5 to 4 weeks (when mom stops cleaning up after them) the
pups are moved to an outside kennel, and I start beginning potty
training. By letting them out of the kennel 4-5 times a day
and cleaning it each time I do, the pups learn to keep their
kennel space clean. By the time they are ready to place,
they are reluctant to potty in their space. (I have heard
from many owners of pups from previous litters that their pups
have never or rarely pottied inside.) As they mature I
socialize them with my daughter & friends, as well as with my
other dogs. They are also introduced to sheep and
horses. About the time pups are ready for placement (7-8
weeks), I start crate training, and encourage prospective owner's
to continue crate training their pups after placement.
All pups are vaccinated at 6, 8 and, if I still have them,
11-12 weeks of age. They are also wormed periodically
beginning at 3 weeks of age.
I am always willing to take a pup or adult dog back if its family cannot
keep it, no matter the reason.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any
questions regarding my breeding practices!
